Stop Existing, Start Living: Help Yourself Take Control Of Your Life Through Hypnotherapy

As level-headed human beings, we tend to believe that we are fully aware of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, rationally and consciously living life in the here and now, making informed decisions based on available facts. Nevertheless, the latest scientific understanding of how the human mind works demonstrates that this is not the case and that the vast majority of what we think, feel and do is automatically driven by a part of our mind that we have no conscious access to – the unconscious mind. Based on our experiences of life, we form templates of behaviour that become our automatic responses to specific situations. Without realising we’re doing it, we can find ourselves ‘sleepwalking’ through life, robotically repeating behaviours that actually make our lives worse, leaving us feeling dissatisfied, uncomfortable and ineffective, but not understanding why.

Published in March 2017, Stop Existing, Start Living: Help Yourself Take Control Of Your Life Through Hypnotherapy is a self-help book aimed at adults who are fed up with feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied with their lives. The focus of this book is not to equip the reader with strategies to best manage the symptoms of their dissatisfaction. Instead, through the proven techniques of hypnotherapy, Stop Existing, Start Living… guides the reader step by step through a complete process of change to address the causes of the dissatisfaction.

Given the many misconceptions surrounding hypnotherapy, the author of Stop Existing, Start Living… takes time to demystify the practice of hypnotherapy, explaining its processes, and dispelling the myths around it. She addresses a wide range of issues, including: Attitudinal barriers toward change, setting attainable goals and building motivation to achieve them, uncovering and transforming unhealthy belief systems, the impact of the past on the present, the potential of forgiveness to heal the past, and the development of self-understanding through self- knowledge. The author concludes with a chapter on self-hypnosis, promoting self-reliance in future problem resolution.

Stop Existing, Start Living… is designed to help the reader take control of and responsibility for their own life. With this in mind, a key aspect of this book are the questions that are placed within its chapters, questions deliberately aimed at encouraging the reader to become actively involved in their own change process through directed self-reflection.

Central to the book are 10 downloadable hypnosis audios, recordings of the author’s voice backed by relaxing music. Each audio has been meticulously designed to facilitate observation, understanding, learning and change. Once downloaded, the audios can be listened to from the comfort of the reader’s own home, at a time convenient to them, as often as they choose.

The author’s approach throughout the book is supportive, compassionate and, at times, light-hearted, yet thought-provoking, empowering and goal-directed.
